After feeling isolated during her 1st year at Galileo last year, which was during distance learning, Biology teacher Ms. Caroline Falvey decided to take on the responsibility of being the ASB Sponsor to become more integrated into the Galileo community. Being involved with student government is a new experience for her but she is excited to watch the great work her students will do.
Since she was starting a new job in the midst of a pandemic, Ms. Falvey wanted to connect with students more and integrate herself into the school, so she applied and was elected to the ASB sponsor position. Her favorite part of her new role is planning and getting ready for the events. So far, ASB has planned the ‘Welcome Back’ Assembly, Song and Yell, fundraised in the ASB store. This included using the parking lot during fleet week for a car wash as well as collaborating with a boba tea shop to sell more drinks.
When asked what she has learned from being the ASB sponsor, Ms. Falvey said“ [Being the ASB Sponsor is] a lot of responsibility. Being in a sponsor role is something that I have never been in in my life and I’m getting to know how that works. I’m making sure that I’m working as an advocate for my students.”
